At this point I have not had troubles with mod_rewrite or .htaccess on my account. I use them on both this blog and on the photo gallery associated with this site. I did have some troubles with the CPU quota thing for a bit while adding a large number of photos at once to the photo gallery. The BH staff was able to resolve the issue for me in short order though. I agree that your bandwidth incident does sound strange. Good luck with your other hosting choice.
